Leonard "Jim" Lambert
Leonard married Irene Dorothy Niwa, daughter of Frank J. Niwa and Mary Rose Szczesna, on 6/4/1934 in Cook County. (Irene Dorothy Niwa was born on 2/6/1908 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, United States, died on 11/1/1996 in Massachusetts and was buried on 11/6/1996 in Maryhill, Cook, Il.)
1. Note. Met at a part thrown by Niwa family friend, Mrs. Kranz. Jim had a fiance who had died. Irene had recently been jilted. They dated for years until Jim's mom ordered him to propose to Irene. Instead of using the ring of his first love, he proposed to Irene with a larger, one carat stone. They could not have children due to Jim's malaria. 2. Wedding, 6/4/1934. With the depression, money was not there to have their wedding in a hotel. Instead, their wedding was held in the basement of Wellington, and they moved into the downstairs flat along with everyone else to help make payments. |
